    Re: 5/2 GDT vs Toronto...Game 1

Game 1 recap Crunch win 5-1 over the Marlies. Karl Goehring first star again and some great saves. Both Wilson and and MacKenzie stars as well with goals and assits. Dan Smith is a beast with multiple shots blocked and total defense. Good to see Pineault back in the line up as well as Mirasty. Brassard and Lindstrom both were fighting it but Brassard did have a goal. Both need to pass a little bit more but both can explode when needed. Captain Z was very impressive with 2 fights and his heart is the biggest I have ever seen. MacKenzie is maybe the most important part of this team besides Captain Z. Brule and Picard did not score but cause chaos all night for the Marlies. Our team defense is the best I have ever seen for this team or any other. If not for the break downs on the PP Toronto had nothing.

Final summary total team effort with total team defense. Great goals and only missed a couple open nets. This team plays hard with heart and has great skill. Every game anyone can score and play. Mirasty also had some nice shifts at the end. This team can put put any line and score which is huge and I have never seen before. Don't forget Sestito is back now as his suspension is over and would not be suprised to see Legein and Mirasty altered between games. This team shows me nothing but heart and determination like never before. At least my finger nails were saved this game and hope fore a win Sunday as well. I did here there are 3 buses of fans going up Sunday and am so bummed I can not be one of them but cheer load and ring them cowbells. This team is special and need our support no matter what. If it is through words on the forums or the fans that make the trips. Remember they feed off of us the fans and as long as we are behind them nothing is impossible. LETS GO CRUNCH!!!!

I must give props to the Toronto TV crew for the game, both in the studio and the play by play team....they weren't the "homers" you usually see...they called it like it was and, at times, went out of their way to give the Crunch props....great job...

Agreed they know real hockey and they are just not trying to stir the pot. To0 be honest when the coverage started I was a little mad that it was the Toronto feed and not Time Warner and Bobby Mac. But after the first intermission reazlized they have true hockey professionals like any true hockey profesional would. rat TV coverage and still listemed to Bobby Mac as it was only 20 seconds behind.

Class acts are the Marlies Broadcasters.

I think the Toronto crew knew they had more people form Syracuse watching than Toronto. What was the attendance 2,000 or less.

Kris Newberry would look great in a crunch uniform. The kid was the only guy not in a crunch uniform playing hockey tonight.

So much for that great big D Toronto was bragging about.

Walser was benched for the third. I thought I heard they had to call 911 because he was "choking".

Sorry Karen,  Ling is not a playoff stud !

Hope it's warmer tomorrow night than it was tonight in the Stadium!  (Posting from NYC)

Sounds like a great game, sorry to have missed it!!  Way to go Crunch!

It's like that all year, yeah. Leafs TV has been known to broadcast practices during the day, and that kind of second guessing is required to work as a reporter in the Center of the Hockey Universe (trademark pending). Keep in mind that when Jason Blake announced he had the cancer early this season, one of the beat Toronto reporters asked Blakey at the press conference if that would explain his slow start to the season.

And yet that's the team I cheer for...

Total dismantling tonight. I just wouldn't get too cocky though. After all, there has to be a reason this team ran and hid in first place all year, right? Gilbert is a solid coach, and Pogge is a much better goalie than Clemmensen, in my opinion. Still, it's a solid first step forward. Hopefully the boys can keep it going Sunday.

Back up in 5 hours to head to the Bronx...last trip to the House That Ruth Built.

The coverage of the game was excellent, it was nice to see that they said McKenzie was hooked on his breakaway, and didn't complain on every Crunch hit, must be the water in Manitoba.

Too funny!  I was getting my Mohawk retooled at lunch and commented to my stylist that traditionally we have grown beards for the playoffs, but that we were trying to stimulate the economy by getting Mohawks!   She said that her business was booming!

    Scrappy:

It was a game of PornStache's vs. Mohawks.  I'll take Mohawks every time! Wink

Seriously, what is up with those Stache's on Toronto players?  Is that by design?  Do they all leave the game in their Camaro's too?

I thought TV coverage was good as well, but when I tried to turn the sound down and put bobby mac on there was a significant delay on the TV :(  So it was not an option. too bad.

I couldn't resist making the trip yesterday to Toronto! I was really shocked to see so few fans for the Marlies. The place looked almost empty. I also expected some taunting from their fans, but the ones we met were really pretty nice. Quite the difference in attitude. we hit the road from syracuse @ 1:30pm and didn't get to the arena until 7:00pm. We were literally stuck in traffic for 1 1/2 hrs! There were 3 lanes of highway traffic that just came to complete stops for no reason. No accidents seen or construction during the trip. A couple more Crunch fans were also stuck in the same mess.It was smooth sailing on the way back though. We left @ 11:00 and got home @ 3:30. Hopefully the busses don't get caught in that traffic. They probably won't as some Marlies fans said that we were stuck in their "normal" rush hour. Before we left the arena, we made sure we were there to greet the players when they got off the ice.A couple of fans with us were ringing their cowbells and they were asked to stop by the ushers. That was the only negative incident.Of course we were also told to shut up when we hackeled Clemonson. That just made us yell all the more though Wink 2 beers cost $17.00.Prices are steep in Canada.Parking is $8.00.Hope some loyal fans that we are on this cite make the trip for Sunday. Make sure you take your cowbells as they must hate them!!

     GO CRUNCH!!

The delay is annoying. I'd rather listen to BobbyMac. At least the Toronto crew isn't bad to listen to,
